EVALUATION OF Eucalyptus paniculata Smith NATURAL REGENERATION

ABSTRACT

The potential of natural regeneration by seeds of Eucalyptus paniculata was evaluated. Samples of 4 m2 were systematically located in the studied are. Seedling number, diameter and distance from a point to the next tree were evaluated. The results showed that no single parcel was empty and 70% of the empty spaces had areas up to 1 m2. In 56% of the samples, from 2 to 5 seedlings were found. At the age 6 to 7 years, in 55% of the samples, the highest tree diameter was over 10 cm. The tree distribution on the site allows to make selective thinning in the stand to guarantee future improved yields.
