EFFECTS OF ARTIFICIAL SHADING AND CHEMICAL FERTILIZATION ON Adenanthera pavonina L. GROWTH

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of artificial shading and chemical fertilization on the seedling growth of Adenanthera pavonina L. The growth was analysed in plants growing in a greenhouse under 30 and 60% of artificial shading, in "cerrado" soil with or without addition of NPK (4,14,18). The measurements were made monthly, from 30 until 180 days after emerging (D.A.E.). The analysis of the biometrical and physiological parameters indicated that from 30 until 120 D.A.E., the edaphic and light conditions did not promote significant differences in plant growth. Therefore, from 150 D.A.E., the best growing conditions were the use of "cerrado" soil with additions of NPK and under high light intensity.
