ROOTING OF STEM CUTTINGS OF DIFFERENT DIAMETERS OF Platanus acerifolia (Aiton) Willdenow

SUMMARY

The objective of the present research was to study the effects of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) in the rooting of stem cuttings of different diameters of Platanus acerifolia (Aiton) Willdenow. To get that objective them (average diameter of 0,94 cm); medium (average diameter of 1,58 cm) and thick (average diameter of 2,75 cm) cuttings were used. The following treatments were applied: T1 (control) and T2 (BA 6000 ppm in talc). The application of the auxin in the base of cuttings was by means of talc application. The cuttings were planted in wooden boxes and cultived in a greenhouse with micropulverization. After 120 days the following observations were made: root cuttings; number of roots that were formed; the average length of root formation (cm) and number of leaves. Through the results, it was concluded that the thick cuttings presented the best results and the IBA treatment (6000 ppm in talc) has interfered significantly in the rooting process of cuttings of Platanus acerifolia (Aiton) Wilden.
