Seedling qualities of Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. All. conducted under different volumes of containers

ABSTRACT

To evaluate the effect of the volume of tubes on the growth of Myracrodruon urundeuva seedlings, two experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design: Experiment 1, conduction of seedlings in the nursery and Experiment 2, post-planting evaluation simulating a field condition, depending on the age seedlings. In Experiment 1, three volumes of tubes (55, 180 and 280 cm³) and four periods of seedling stays in the nursery (60, 75, 90 and 105 days after sowing) were used, being evaluated for height, diameter, dry mass of the aerial part and dry mass of the root system. In Experiment 2, seedlings with 60, 75, 90 and 105 days were transferred to bags 15,600 cm³ filled with soil from the planting area and evaluated two and a half months after planting, in terms of height and diameter. The seedlings produced in the 280 cm3 volume containers obtained better development in all the evaluated attributes both in the nursery and in the field phase. Thus, the use of 280 cm³ tubes is recommended for the production of Myracrodruon urundeuva seedlings, due to the possibility of reducing the production cycle in the nursery phase and better performance in the field.
