FLORISTIC COMPOSITION ASPECTS AND FOREST SUCCESSIONAL CATEGORIES OF THREE SUBSERES IN A DECIDUOUS SEASONAL FOREST, IN THE DISTRICT OF SANTA TEREZA - RS.

ABSTRACT

The floristic composition and the forest successional categories of three subseres denominated Dense Bushwood, Secondary Forest and Mature Forest, in a Deciduous Seasonal Forest, in the district of Santa Tereza, northeast region of Rio Grande do Sul State, were analised. The sampling method used estratified sampling process and systematic distribution of sample units. The minimum diameter considered was 3,2 cm. It was observed that there is a substitution of the botanic families and groups of different successional categories of species in the forest succession process and a change in their importance rank. Thus, species intolerant to shade predominate at the beginning and are replaced by tolerant species as the process evolves.
