ABSTRACT
The paper makes a general comment on Bresser-Pereira’s work and actions, taking him as a democratic nationalist public intellectual of Brazilian society, on the center-left, who interacts both with his academic peers and with several other actors, including members of the so-called political class, general readers, etc. Above all, Bresser-Pereira’s intellectual engagement with the theme of nation building stands out, an objective that, according to him, depends on the formulation and implementation of a development project capable of leveraging a fruitful and democratic marriage between the economic-social order and the political order.
