Epistemology of complexity and information science

Throughout the 20th century, science went through a wide debate about its basic construction principles. Rationalism, determinism and mechanicism were left aside owing to the uncertainty aroused by science itself. This was the reason for possible epistemological ruptures and the search for "new" paradigms. This paper intends to present the complex Morinean thought, utilizing as a justification the presuposition of Bachelardean "formative instinct" in order to make an attempt to have a closer relation between information science and the so called "new science".
