An investigation on hyperdocument construction shows lack of adequate and comprehensive methodologies, contemplating a conceptual modeling step for the initial definition of knowledge units. Absence of systematic criteria introduces noise in the communication between the author responsible for subject content and the system designer, leading to difficulties when implementing hyperdocuments. This paper presents an interdisciplinary approach to the problem, involving Information Science, Computer Science and Terminology that contributes to the definition of appropriate principles to support the task of conceptual modeling in hypermedia design methodologies.
