In re-evaluating Gilberto Freyre’s writings, few have said about the ideas of this author related to the comprehension of the Man as a bilogical and cultural entity, at the same time. This article has as aim to present the main freyrian proposals in the field of sociology of medicine and, afterwards, to evaluate the possibilities to apply these ideas in initiatives towards to the health education.
