Abstract:
Mining represents a challenge from the viewpoint of sustainability, as it is an activity with direct impacts on the environment, as it can be seen in the socio-environmental crimes that occurred in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The main objective in this study was to evaluate what were the conception changes presented by high school students regarding this issue, after the application of a didactic sequence following an STS approach associated with the dynamics of the three pedagogical moments (3MP) based on Paulo Freire's principles. The didactic sequence consisted of 6 classes, using the following activities: image analysis, reports and documentaries, board games, guided visit, debates and case studies. The results show that the dialogic features of the activities in all three MPs enhanced the teaching / learning process, as the students were able to incorporate, apply, take a stand and make decisions on issues related to the theme, including the political, social, environmental, economic and scientific aspects.
