This paper presents the results of a study that describes 351 dissertations and theses on the teaching of Biology in Brazil, showing some trends in these works, based in the following descriptors: author and advisor for the work; academic degree; institution of origin for the work; year of defense; geographical distribution; and sponsorship. The results are presented in such a way as to make explicit the data on the institutional base that supports this field of investigation and the trends in research on Teaching Biology in Brazil.
