Training for research in a Science and Mathematics Education research group

This paper aims to investigate the formation of researchers in the research group in Education in Science and Mathematics. The corpus of data consisted of 'memories', and a methodology for data collection was developed by the group members. From analogy with the strands of scientific learning, we built the focuses of learning for research (FAP) that articulate this learning in six aspects: (1) Interest; (2) Knowledge; (3) Methodology; (4) Creativity; (5) Community; (6) Identity. For data analysis we adopted the methodological procedures of Discursive Textual Analysis. We concluded that the discussion in the group meetings dealt mainly with methodological issues, the links between the theoretical framework and data and the dissemination of research results in different research communities. These results may be interpreted as changing the subjects' speech from that of prescribed research to autonomous research.
