This research is a case study undertaken among second year's elementary school students. We searched through students discourses' analysis how they expressed the solutions found for a given exercise which asked they to describe and explain the winch's operation. After the reading of a story called "Tão simples e tão úteis" (So simple and so useful) it was given to the sample of students a task. Divided into groups, the students dis-cussed the possible solution to it. Afterwards the groups were undone and the students, disposed in a circle, socialized their ideas. In this article we present an analysis of the talks occurred in some teaching episodes se-lected during the circle discussions.
