Vertebrate teaching models for students with visual impairment

Abstract:

The objective of this study, through the creation of didactic resources, is to promote pedagogical accessibility strategies for students with visual impairment in the teaching of Biology, particularly the study of Vertebrates. Four biological three-dimensional models were produced with different materials to represent aspects of the anatomy and morphology of representatives of the Reptilia and Aves Classes. Subtitles in Braille were provided aiming to complement the interpretation of the produced material. For the validation of the efficiency of the models, semi-structured interviews were conducted with visually impaired students of Biological Sciences in a public university of the state of Sergipe, Brazil. The perceptions of the students were positive regarding the resources produced, emphasizing the importance of the use of didactic materials as facilitators in the acquisition of knowledge, also emphasizing the importance of teachers in the process of inclusion.
