Oxygen: a philosophical approach aiming at arguments about Science Education - part 1: power and ambition

The History and Philosophy of Science (HPS) has become a field with significant insertions in the teaching of Science. The general objective of this paper is to present an analysis of the theatrical text Oxygen aiming at approaching the HPS. Specifically, an analysis of the construction of the concept of the scientist will be presented, focusing on the themes of power and ambition. The theatrical text was analyzed using Discourse Analysis from a Foucauldian perspective. The analysis revealed questions with regard to motivation, interests, ethics and scientific work. Those aspects are inserted in the purpose of the arguments comprised by the HPS in the sense of reaching the scientific literacy.
