This article seeks to present the recent development of the field of International Relations in China, through a critical literature review of works on the development of IR studies in China and Chinese works on international relations. Thus, it seeks to outline the history of the evolution of the field by analyzing the intellectual, social, economic and political context in which it has developed. Nevertheless, the article discusses the main research themes and theoretical orientations in China today, as well as indigenous contributions to theorizing in the field.
