The US Forum Shifting Strategy to Negotiate TRIPS-Plus Agreements with Latin American Countries

Abstract

The paper analyzes the Preferential Trade Agreements concluded between United States and some Latin America countries, highlighting the TRIPS-plus content of the intellectual property rights rules contained in these agreements. These rules expand and strengthen the mandatory minimum standard of TRIPS, producing important effects on vital public policies for socio-economic development of these countries.
