Abstract:
This article examines the conditions and processes of emergence, expansion and differentiation of environmentalism in Brazil. It focuses on the institutionalization and professionalization of environmental activism. First the article highlights the various forms of emergence and construction of environmental protection as a public cause. Then it explores the relationship between the regional differentiation of organizations and the processes of emergency and diffusion of environmental activism.
