Philosophy, history, genealogy

Abstract:

This article aims to show that the Nietzschean genealogy represents a new concept for the history of philosophy, that it should not be confused with a historical philosophy, maintaining instead a non-utilitarian identification of history and philosophy. I show how it gives rise to an original type of narrative in which Nietzsche finally satisfactorily resolves one of his oldest concerns, as genealogy celebrates the marriage of speculation and empiricism at an equal distance from the history of historians, of the philosophies of history and pseudo-history of empiricists.
