Abstract:
The article seeks to articulate Nietzsche’s conception of laughter with the history of theories of laughter, analyzing some studies that point to a close relationship between the comic and the tragic in the author. Despite the emphasis that is generally given on the ethical aspect of the function of laughter as a critique of the Christian moral tradition, special attention was given to the aesthetic dimension of Dionysian laughter.
