The purpose of this article is to discuss the meaning of Anísio Teixeira's liberalism. It entends to show how his liberal theory might not be understood under an individualistic point of view, but from the way he combines individual and society and yet how he counterbalances respect to personal differences with social necessities which must be kept. Therefore, it will be pointed out the criative form in which Anísio adjusts freedom and iquality in order to catch his liberalism further than the usual limits of its explanations.
