This article results of the review of scientific production on the subject of management, autonomy and the operation of collegial organizations within basic school institutions between 2000 and 2008. The survey, was carried on the Capes dissertation database, on Human Sciences periodicasl and on the historical records of events. A database of 753 source documents grouped into four basic categories was constructed. This paper discusses the quantitative data from the three types of sources and the main concerns of the researches. It aims to identify the methodological designs and the theoretical references adopted by educational policy experts regarding school management
