Abstract
Based on an exceptionally dense and concentrated documentary corpus of news articles focused on mbyá maternity published in the print media of Misiones Province (Argentina) between 2017 and 2019, we propose to analyze three invariants: empathy with ethnic groups, contextualization of the facts and the register of Indigenous voices. Our central hypothesis is that in the particular interest of the mass media about these maternities, questioning from the surrounding society are expressed from a civilizing perspective that often involves moral ideas about how they should be treated.
