Abstract
It is with the proposal of discussing the fear felt by different psychology professionals, when faced with trans and “travestis” patients, that this article seeks to elaborate some reflections. To this end, it proposes another way of facing this helplessness, without, therefore, assuming a lack of commitment to the clinic. Still, it also questions the alleged stability of nosological discourses that historically seemed to know “well” what they were doing with such a population, since they bet on an understanding of gender based on sexist stereotypes.
