It was collected 212 samples of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) seeds during 1985/86 in seven producers localities of Santa Catarina State. The samples were categorized in three ways: place of sample, production origin and cultivars. It was done determinations about seed physiology and seed pathology. Only Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, Fusarium spp, Rhizoctonia solani and storage fungi (Aspergillus spp and Penicillum spp) were considered. It was possible to obtain differences between sample categories in respect of field pathogens and harvest, drying and storage.
