Tomato yield affected by prunning systems inside a polyethylene greenholjse

Response of "Monte Carlo" tomato, an indeterminated variety, to prunning systems inside a polyethylene greenhouse was evaluated at Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. Treatments were: one steam with three trusses (T1), one steam with five trusses (T2), one steam with seven trusses (T3), two steams with three trusses (T4), two steams with five trusses (T5), two steams with seven trusses (T6). Fruits were harvested once a week. Early yield was not affected by treatments. Marketable total yield and fruit number per plant were greater in treatments with two steams per plant. Marketable total yield increased with trusses number per plant increase, regardless the number of steams. Average weight of 80-120mm fruit class was similar among treatments. However, the average weight of 50-80mm fruit class and the general average weight was greater in plants with one steam and in plants prunned after the third truss.
