Anatomical variations in the dentition of mongrel domestic dogs

The dentition of 100 adult males and females mongrel dogs were analysed with lhe objective of investigating the anatomical variations in the dentition. The congenital absence of molars teeth was observed in small dogs. The pathologic absence prevailed in the premolars area. Supemumerary teeth, mainly the molars, were observed in the maxillary arcade. Supemumerary roots on the upper and lower premolars and molars teeth were observed. A large number of fused roots were observed, mainly in the mandibular second premolar teeth.
