Fitossociological analisys of a deciduous seasonal forest fragment in Jaguari county, RS

A study was made in a fragment from a Deciduous Seasonal Forest, in São Roque locality, Jaguari county, RS, Brazil, with the objective of characterizing its diversity and the most important species in the forest fragment composition. For the evaluation and identification of the forest species with CBH = 30 cm there were measured, systematically, 14 sample units with 10x100 m (1000 m²). In these samples there was made an evaluation of vegetation specie, CBH, total height, commercial height, sociological position and canopy class. Was found the occurrence of 54 forest species and 28 families. The Shannon’s diversity index was 3.63 and shows the great diversity of the fragment. The Sapindaceae, Myrtaceae and Meliaceae families were the most representative in the forest fragment studied. The species with the most important value were Cupania vernalis, Patagonula americana e Cabralea canjerana. In the canopy forest, the dominant species were Patagonula americana, Cabralea canjerana e Luehea divarica.
