SURVEY OF PARASITES OF Hoplias Malabaricus (Bloch, 1974) IN SANTA MARIA COUNTY

In the present study 139 Hoplias Malabaricus were collected in different seasons from dams and ponds located at Santa Maria county and surroudings and the parasites were studied. The objectives of the survey were to determine the preferably location of the parasite in the host, relate the season with the higher prevalence and identify them at the level of genus and when possible indicate the species. From the 139 fishes examined, 2812 parasites were collected with the following distribuition: 469 in spring, 921 in summer, 482 in autumn and 940 in winter. From these 2812 parasites, 1637 were nematodes beloging to the following species: contracaecum sp.. Parasseuratum soaresi, Paracappilaria piscicola, Guyanema baudi, Spirocamallanus hilaril, Procamallunas peraccuratus and nematodes not identified; 931 trematodes beloging to Ithyoclinostomulum dimorphum, tylodelphylus sp. 1, Dendrorchis sp., CIinostomum sp. andhalipegus overstreeti; 106 acanthocefphalans belonging to Quadrigyrus machadoi; 138 microcrustaceans to the genus Ergasilus, 20 argulides of the genus Dolops.
