Young people's information and values regarding AIDS: evaluation of students in three Brazilian's cities

The objective of the study was evaluate the information and the values about the Aids, among school youths, subject of a program gone back to the promotion of values, in three Brazilian cities, in the period 2000 to 2001. The method consisted of an investigation of evaluation, involving questionnaire and focal group. In the questionnaires, 796 students were involved and in the focal groups 204 students. In terms of results, it was verified that: the Program didn't have effect on the level of information concerning the Aids; in the schools without the intervention there was very more incorrect information (20,6%) that enters the students with the program (10,9%); there were differences among the level of information between boys and girls; the depositions of the study group had a better quality than the one of the group controls. Although it has not had an increase of the collection of the school youths' information, the Program revealed positive aspects in terms of the reflection capacity and the argument of those youths on forms of prevention of the transmission of the Aids.
