Abstract
In this article I reflect on my translation of Die Maskentänze from Zwei Jahre unter den Indianern: Reisen in Nordwesten Brasilien by Theodor Koch-Grünberg (1872-1924) into Brazilian Portuguese. I present a brief introduction about the author and the significance of his work. The text is complemented by some explanatory notes about the translation and the content of the text, as well as selected illustrations taken from the aforementioned work. The author’s notes of explanatory character have also been preserved and translated, but not those of the book internal references.
