Abstract
This paper discusses the collaborative translation project for three dramatic works by the Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard: The President, A party for Boris and Immanuel Kant. The project was carried out by a group of five translation students and coordinated by Professor Ruth Bohunovsky, with the publication of the first book in 2020. In addition to comments on the collaborative translation process, the choice of translating the pieces in book format and the difficulties imposed by Bernhard’s dramaturgical language and the results of the process as a whole are also discussed.
