DAVID CRONENBERG, AUTHOR OF NAKED LUNCH: INTERSEMIOTIC TRANSLATION AS TRANSCREATION

Abstract

This paper presents and analyzes the intersemiotic translation process performed by filmmaker David Cronenberg of William Burroughs’ novel Naked Lunch, and the intertextual bifurcations involved in this process. Investigating the similarities and differences between the creative worlds of both artists and how they reframe each other. For this, are used as the theoretical the idea of transcreation proposed by Haroldo de Campos, and the notion of the translator as a reader proposed by Jorge Luis Borges.
