Abstract
Commentary on the partial translation of Journal of an Expedition from Pirara to the Upper Corentyne, by Robert H. Schomburgk. In this article we briefly address the main translation procedures in our second experience with the records of the Prussian explorer and his expeditions in the border region between the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and Brazil. Based on Torres (2021), considering the principles of Ecotranslation, we seek to highlight moments that deal with the relationship between man and the environment, such as extractivism, ranching, trade, and cultural traits in general. For this work, we selected an excerpt from his travel journal referring to the second half of August 1843.
