Abstract
This work presents two translation proposals for three décimas (a ten-line stanza) written by the Spanish poet and playwright Miguel Hernández Gilabert (Orihuela, 1910 – Alicante, 1942) referred to by the first verse [Contra un poder tan tirano]. Although originally included in the 1937 play “El labrador de más aire”, the poem is treated as an autonomous lyrical work and translated with two different horizons, following the nomenclature of García de la Banda: (a) a translation of the poem, understood to preserve semantics; (b) although assumed as translation, a poetic translation aimed to integrate the target poetic system (Rio Grande do SulRio Grande Do Sul. Secretaria de Políticas para as mulheres. Grupo de Trabalho (Dec.Est. nº 49.995/2012). Manual para uso não sexista da linguagem, Toledo, Leslie Campaner de et al. (Orgs.).Porto Alegre: Secretaria de Comunicação e Inclusão Digital, 2014.), dialoging with the payada and (post -)gaucho tradition. Both proposals, as well as the writing of this work, commit to a language called “of peace”, avoiding offensive, discriminatory, or harmful expressions to groups of people or animals.
