EDITORIAL

Dear readers,

After serving as the editor-in-chief and co-editor of the Journal Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos, for the past nine months, today we have a reasonably clear view of the current scenario and the possibility of expediting the publication of the articles submitted to this journal.

With the support of the six members of the editorial board, we have managed to review and evaluate the vast majority of manuscripts that had already been submitted when we took over the editorship of the journal. Since the online submission page was reopened (May/2011), 101 new manuscripts have been submitted for publication, and the implementation of the pre-evaluation process has proved efficient. We have been making a good faith effort to respond to the authors within 30 days of the article's submission. We have also started a re-registration and registration process for current and new reviewers.

We have gotten the approval of two projects granted by The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and by The State of São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), which is an essential support to ensure the financial stability of the journal. The approval of these projects shows that we are on the right path to achieve excellence.
