This article follows a recurring image in the description of Brazilian cities - that of “still construction and already ruin” - from different enunciation positions over time and suggests that this trajectory allows one to think pathways for an ethnographic research agenda on urbanization and infrastructure, or an anthropology of urbanism of an in the cities of the Global South.
