São Paulo metrópole: sustentabilidade com redução das desigualdades, um processo unitário

ABSTRACT

The city of São Paulo is historically characterized by significant structural socioeconomic inequalities. Facing it demands new ways of managing public policy, as the challenge of making it a sustainable city is unavoidable. This essay presents evidence of how sustainability and reduction of inequalities express a socioeconomic process of a unitary nature. The next city administrations will be required to make a significant effort in this direction to address the structural urban crisis that has characterized the city for several decades and to mitigate future environmental and social risks.
