ABSTRACT

In the public sector, where there are budgetary pressures and a growing demand for services for the population, innovation, which is an inseparable factor of entrepreneurship, remains the way to solve these problems. Thus, the objective of this paper is to describe the actions and entrepreneurial practices were developed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), federal public foundation, for implementing an innovation to improve the process of data collection for one of its main researches, namely the census of 2020. To achieve this goal, a case study based on a literature review was developed and in interviews with semi-structured scripts, applied to IBGE managers. As a result, it was clearly perceived that, in this project, we have a creative and innovative initiative that was put into practice to react to changes in economic and social paradigms. Regarding the internet collection project, although the preliminary results did not achieve the desired success, there was one more step in relation to this practice, which aims to make the process more dynamic and, above all, less costly.
