Unit of chemotherapy in the perspective of customers: indicative for the nurses in the management of the environment

Study of descriptive case, qualitative, concerning the perspective of customers about the environment of the Unit of chemotherapy. The objectives are to analyze the vision of customers concerning the Unit of Chemotherapy of the Bonsucesso General Hospital and to discuss the environment factors considered by the customers as determiners of well being and discomfort in the Unit of Chemotherapy, as indicative for the nurse in the management of the environment. Twenty adult customers in treatment in the related unit had participated of the study. The results have disclosed that the customers consider that the determining factors of well being are related to the loving attitude of the team and to the comfort of the room of chemotherapy application. The factor pointed as generators of discomfort were the uncomfortable area used as waiting room. It is conclude that the perspective of the customers indicates a philosophy of management that contemplates the physical, psychological and social aspects of the environment. And that it is up to the nurse to include the planning of his/her assistance the moment that precedes the application of the chemotherapy.
