Critical analysis of an integration experience of mental health nursing training period in the Brazilian Unified Health System

The proposals of curricular reform in the health sector praise the integration between the academic activity and the assistance practice, in special in the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). The present article analyzes the process of interaction between nursing school (mental health discipline) and the health net of the Niterói city, in the year of 2006, aiming the reorientation of the organization of the nursing practical education in the context of the psychiatric reform. We presented an experience of negotiation of mental health nursing training with the professionals and managers of the SUS mental health services. It is conclude that the change in the formation of the nurse is directly related to the changes in the scope of the relations established among sectors of the university and health services.
