The education in health as nursing strategy in the prevention of the alcoholism

The information of international organizations shows that 200 million of people consumed some illicit drug between 2001 and 2002, is to say 3.4% of the world-wide population. This article presents a reflection about the education in health as a viable strategy for the Nursing in the prevention and promotion of the health related to the alcoholism. In the first part of the text we deal with the alcoholism problem in the world; in the second part we present contextual theoretical aspects about the education in health, as support strategy to the promotion of the health and prevention of the alcoholism; in the third part we present some success experiences in the prevention of the use and abuse of alcohol and, finally, in the third part of this reflection we showed the importance of the Nursing performance and of the health team in the use of the education in health as possibility to act in a preventive way against the alcoholism.
