Interacting with the multiprofessional staff: the interfaces of high risk pregnancy assistance

Quantitative study, part of the Master thesis entitled "Experiencing the high-risk pregnancy: between light and darkness". It pictures the relationship between the staff of a prenatal high-risk pregnancy care and the pregnant women who attended the program. Sixteen pregnant women took part in the program at the " Pré-natal de Alto Risco da Policlínica Municipal" in Divinopolis, MG. By trying to understand this phenomenon, this work describes how the woman receives the diagnosis of a high-risk pregnancy. Their narratives show how they accept the new situation of risk and the prescribed treatment; they also reveal what their real necessities are and how they take in the directions and the available help given by the multiprofessional staff, during the high-risk prenatal care.
