It is about a quantitative exploratory research that aimed: to identify the ways of recognition of the intrafamiliar violence against seniors referred by the team of Family Health Strategy (ESF), in Curitiba. It was accomplished from April to June of 2008, with 96 integrants, by a structured interview. It was verified that 91% of the participants recognize the violence, and the most common way was the abandon/negligence with 78% of the answers, and for 86% of the subjects the domicile visit was the mechanism more used for its identification. The reasons that difficult the recognition of the violence for 22% are due to the senior does not speak about the issue, communication problems and diseases. The Social action fund is mentioned as place for the seniors' guiding. The results address for new studies with deepening of subjects relative to the violence prevention and recognition of the violence.
