The mater cell of musical composition and its genetic traces: an analysis of musical documents

ABSTRACT

Objective:

This study has as its object of analysis the musical document, with the objective of showing whether the musicographic creation can generate other documents interconnected by a mater cell, each document being linked to the sociocultural context in which it was produced.

Methods:

This is a descriptive and documentary research of a qualitative nature, in which the evidentiary method was adopted, which directed the collection of significant information for the study.

Results:

As a result, it was evidenced that musical creation, when recorded for the first time, appears its mater cell, which can multiply and/or subdivide, both from the perspective of the document and the information. Regarding information, arrangements, editions, adaptations may arise from the mater cell, which are considered in this study as ramifications of the original composition of the work. As for documents, a score can be subdivided into parts that present excerpts from specific musical instruments.

Conclusions:

It concludes that the conception of the mother cell in musical creation can help information professionals to improve the processes related to the treatment of musicographic documents, highlighting the sociocultural aspects in which the document and its ramifications were produced.
