Information literacy: Analysis of the acceptance time of articles indexed in BRAPCI database

ABSTRACT

Objectives:

The objective is to analyze the acceptance time of Brazilian articles on the subject information literacy indexed in the BRAPCI database until the year of 2019. It seeks to indicate temporal evolution, median standards of acceptance time, journals and the relationship between acceptance times and quality of scientific journals

Methods:

This is a statistical analysis related to the period between submission and approval of original Brazilian scientific articles indexed in the BRAPCI database between the years 2000 to 2019, based on a search strategy that includes the terms 'information literacy' and their synonyms in scientific literature in Information Science.

Results:

A total of 177 articles published between 2004 and 2019 were found, most of them accepted for publication in a period designated in the literature as acceptable and expected. There is also uniformity in the annual distribution of acceptance times between the years 2014 and 2019. The results show that there is no relationship between journal quality and shorter acceptance times.

Conclusions:

Finally, it is possible to observe that the acceptance time can be favorable in the scientific communication process of the information literacy theme and can, therefore, be a contributing factor to the development of the theme in the social sphere.
