Group writing activities at early childhood education: teachers' mediation

This research aimed to analyze how Pre-school teachers conduct group writing process in their classes. Essentially, the socio-interactionist perspective by Schneuwly's (1988) was followed, which conceives texts production as an activity encompassing cognitive and social dimensions. Two teachers from public schools in Recife and their respective children groups took part in the study. The children were between 5 and 6 years old. The process of writing three texts by the children from each class was video recorded and literally transcribed. During the group writing activities it was observed 11 types of teachers' interventions. Such interventions varied on its complexity level and were also related to text genres besides the situation from which stemmed the written texts.
