A REVIEW OF THE INITIAL TEACHERS'S EDUCATION IN SPAIN: THE MASTERS IN SECONDARY EDUCATION

Abstract:

This paper evaluates the process of implementation of the Master in Secondary Education in Spain (MAES, in Spanish), starting from a case study at Granada University. We aim to analyze the general context in which the title is created and also characterize the creation, organization and structuration process on a national level and, specifically, Granada University's. The paper also qualifies the course parting from the study of four fundamental dimensions: structure and organization; teaching; practicum and master's conclusion works. The study concludes that MAES is the first great Spanish experience to educate teachers of this level with a regulated official title. As positive course aspects, were identified: its professional identity and national projection; its curricular structure that prioritizes the teaching of psicopedagogic and didactic skills; the rise of practical formation value at the teaching institutes themselves.
