The teaching of social science in child education in Mexico: social representations and the teaching practice of nine students of a pre-school teaching course

This paper describes the representations of nine preservice early childhood teachers. The data was obtained through interviews and class observations. The findings were analyzed from Goodman & Adler's research (1985). According to the findings, the area of social studies is considered by the students as a "Nonsubject" and the social studies teaching is based on "techniques of human relations".
