CINEMA AND EDUCATION: PRINCIPLES AND PERSPECTIVES

ABSTRACT:

This paper aims to study the educational principles of cinema through a hermeneutic approach based on the results of theoretical research supported by FAPESP between 2013 and 2015. The study has two parts. At the first one, it presents the main contemporary approaches to cinema and education: classroom teaching tool; knowledge form; didactic disposition; cultural studies; sensitive and creative aspects and sense producer. After analysis of these aspects, the paper presents seven principles to think the relationship cinema and education: cognitive, philosophical, aesthetic, mythical, existential, anthropological and poetic. They are inseparable dimensions but operating in complementary relationship and they contribute to the understanding of the various ways that senses and images of cinema are created, shared and interpreted.
